Phoenix, AZ : Motorcyclist dies after crash in Chandler on Wednesday afternoon, August 3, 2016

A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a car Wednesday afternoon in Chandler, police said.

Chandler officers were asking motorists to stay clear of Ray Road east of Lindsay Road following the fatal collision.

Ray Road was closed in both directions amid the police investigation and could stay that way through the evening.

Police said the crash happened about 1:30 p.m. at Ray Road and Concord Avenue. The motorcycle operator was taken to a hospital and died of injuries suffered in the crash, according to Detective Seth Tyler, a Chandler police spokesman.
