Somerville, AL :2 children taken to hospital after single-car wreck in Somerville on Tuesday, July 14th 2015
Two children were taken to the hospital after a single-car wreck on Highway 67 in Somerville on Tuesday morning.The wreck happened on Highway 67 in Somerville at Still Meadow Road about 9:30 this morning.According to paramedics, a man was traveling southbound with two children when he lost control of his Grand Cherokee jeep.
Alabama State Police say the jeep went off the right side of the road. The driver over corrected and ran off the left side of the road. That's when the jeep flipped.
A game warden was on the scene and pulled one of the children out of the car. The other child was able to get out on their own. According to Alabama State Police the girl, 5, and boy, 2, were both transported to Huntsville Hospital by ambulance. The man was treated on the scene. None of the injuries were life-threatening. Police say the children were secure in their car seats and the man was wearing his seat belt. The road is now clear and open to traffic.
