2 killed in wrong-way, head-on crash on I-580 in Reno on August, Tuesday 22nd 2017

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the deaths of two drivers killed in a head-on crash in Reno over the weekend that apparently was caused by one of the men driving the wrong direction on Interstate 580.

The patrol identified the victims Tuesday as 21-year-old Richard Palacios of Sparks and 46-year-old Eric Madison of Reno.

Trooper Dan Gordon says a preliminary investigation suggests Palacios may have been impaired when he drove a red Toyota Camry the wrong way onto I-580 at Oddie Boulevard,

Gordon says he headed southbound in the northbound lanes just east of downtown before crashing into the blue VW Jetta that Madison was driving at about 1 a.m. Saturday near Mill Street and the Grand Sierra Resort.
