Smokey Point, WA : Civilian injured in crash with police officer in Smokey Point on Wednesday, December 17, 2014
Four people, including an Arlington police officer, suffered minor injuries Wednesday when the officer's patrol car collided with another vehicle near Smokey Point.
The crash happened at about 9 p.m. on Highway 531 at Smokey Point Boulevard, according to trooper Travis Shearer with the Washington State Patrol.
Officials said the officer had lights and sirens on and was heading to a call with a K-9 police dog as he headed south on Smokey Point Boulevard. At the same time a 2013 Ford Fiesta driven by a 20-year-old Arlington woman was heading east on Highway 531. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.
The 43-year-old officer suffered minor injuries, as did three people in the second car. All were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The police dog was taken to a veterinary office as a precaution but is believed to be fine.
WSP troopers and Arlington police are investigating, but said no charges are likely.
Both cars were totaled in the crash.
