A 70-year-old Selbyville man was killed and his 6-year-old grandson was injured Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Frankford.
Delaware State Police said Preston A. Hudson was westbound on Zion Church Road when the Dodge van he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. The crash occurred at about 11:42 a.m.
Mr. Preston, who was not properly restrained, was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, state police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack said.
Mr. Preston’s grandson, who was properly restrained, was admitted to PRMC with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Two dogs that were also in the van died at the scene of the crash and were turned over to the SPCA.
State police are continuing their investigation to determine if an acute medical condition experienced by Mr. Hudson may have factored in the crash.
