RICHLAND COUNTY, SC : 61-year-old pedestrian dies in late night crash in Richland County on Thursday, 28th March 2019

Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian died in a late night crash in Richland County Thursday.

Lance Cpl Matt Southern says it happened on Monticello Rd (SC 215) near Harmon Rd. That's just north of Columbia International University.

Troopers say a pickup truck was traveling north on Monticello Rd when they collided with a pedestrian who was walking south.The pedestrian, identified as 61-year-old Haskle Lee Thompson, was died at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The collision is still under investigation.
