Alachua, FL : Alachua man dies in three-car crash on County Road 235 at 173rd Street on Wednesday, 3rd July 2019

An Alachua man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a three-car collision in Alachua, reported the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dead is Christian E. Hubscher, 65.

The crash occurred about 3:48 p.m. on County Road 235 at 173rd Street.

Hubscher was driving a 2005 Buick Lacrosse south on CR 235 while Rigoberto Domingo Dias, 23, of Trenton, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche north on CR 235 behind Richard E. Caprario, 55, of Gainesville, driving a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe, FHP reported.

Witnesses told FHP that Caprario began slowing to turn left onto 173rd Street. Dias initially failed to see Caprario slowing and then swerved to avoid hitting him.

Dias entered the southbound lane and collided with the front driver-side corner of Hubscher’s car, FHP reported.

Dias was taken to North Florida Regional Medical Center. An FHP arrest report states Dias was arrested on a charge of driving without a license in a crash that causes death.

Caprario had minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.
