A motorcyclist was hospitalized Friday after a crash that closed Highway 14 north of Evansville for about an hour.
Jeffrey Haak, 46, rural Evansville, was riding his Harley-Davidson north on the highway when a southbound pickup truck turned left in front of him, he could not stop in time, and he hit it broadside, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of the full-size pickup was Tamara Morrison, 52, of Brodhead. She failed to yield the right of way while turning at Bullard Road, according to the release.
The crash was reported at 1:44 p.m. Rock County deputies, Evansville police and fire department, Janesville paramedics and Mercyhealth’s MD-1 responded to the crash.
Haak, who was wearing a helmet, suffered fractured extremities and internal injuries, according to the release. He was still being evaluated in the emergency room at 5 p.m. Friday, a spokeswoman said, and it was expected he would be admitted to the hospital.
Morrison and passenger were wearing seat belts, suffered minor injuries and declined medical transport, according to the release.
The news release indicated citations would be issued after the investigation is completed.
