SALT LAKE CITY, UT : Auto-cyclist crash leaves 1 with critical injuries, forces full intersection closure on Thursday, 22nd June 2023

Police on Thursday morning responded to an auto-cyclist crash at an intersection in eastern Salt Lake City, according to authorities.

In a statement posted to its social media accounts, the Salt Lake City Police Department said an SUV and the cyclist collided at the Guardsman Way and Sunnyside Avenue intersection - approximately 950 South and 1600 East - near the U of U Hospital.

Officers responded to the incident shortly before 8 a.m. on June 22, where investigators believe a 45-year-old cyclist was traveling westbound on Sunnyside Avenue when an SUV, also on Sunnyside, attempted to turn northbound on to Guardsman and struck the rider.
