Rollinsford, NH : Motorcyclist was seriously injured bike and a car collided Monday, June 30, 2014.
Rollinsford, New Hampshire
A motorcyclist was taken to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital with serious injuries early this morning after a head-on collision with a car on Route 4.
The accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. between General John Sullivan Way and Short Street. Cars traveling in both directions had slowed to avoid a live power line that had fallen off a house into the street, according to police and fire officials at the accident scene.
Investigators believe a Hyundai Sonata sedan traveling west toward Dover left its lane and hit the BMW motorcycle, which was traveling east toward South Berwick, Maine.
The impact threw the rider about 50 feet, said Rollinsford Fire Chief Mark Rutherford. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The 18-year-old woman driving the Hyundai was shaken up but not hurt, the chief said. The late-model sedan with Maine plates sustained front-end damage in the crash.
