A single-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer killed one person and left another injured in western Martin County on Friday.

Passenger Nathaniel Hawthorne Jr., 68, of Lake Placid, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash, which took place near Southwest Martin Highway and Southwest Warfield Boulevard, occurred at about 10:30 a.m., Martin County Fire and Rescue Bureau Chief Chris Stabile said.
