Lemoore, CA : Two people died in truck crash Friday morning September 18 2015
Two people died in a collision with a big rig outside of Lemoore early Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford Mustang travelling northbound on 22nd Avenue approaching Grangeville Boulevard around 6:20 a.m. failed to yield the right-of-way to an international tanker truck travelling eastbound on Grangeville and collided with the truck.
The CHP said the Mustang failed to stop at a stop sign, entered the intersection and was broadsided by the truck. Both vehicles ended up on the northeast corner of the intersection. The female driver and male passenger in the Mustang both died from the crash.
According to the Kings County Coroner's Office, the man has been identified as Luis Eduardo Diaz Solorio, 24, and the woman as 27-year-old Norma Crystal Torres Lopez. The CHP said Lopez was wearing her seat belt but that Solorio was not.
The speed limit in the area of the collision is 55 mph. The CHP doesn't know how fast either vehicles were driving before the crash.
There are stop signs at the intersection on northbound and southbound 22nd Avenue, but Grangeville Boulevard is uncontrolled, which is why it has the right-of-way.
The CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have factored into the collision. The truck driver wasn’t injured in the accident.
