The driver of a pickup truck who slammed into a postal vehicle, killing both occupants, had refused to stop for police and sideswiped a car just before the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck has been identified as David Cersosimo, 47, of Rocky Hill, Connecticut. He was brought to Baystate Medical Center, in Springfield, after the crash and was pronounced dead at the hospital, said James Leydon, spokesman for Hampden District Attorney Gulluni.The driver of the postal truck was identified as Daniel Nacin, 59, of Enfield, Connecticut. He too was pronounced dead at Baystate Medical Center, Leydon said.
Earlier Maureen P. Marion, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Postal Service, confirmed Nacin was the victim. She said he was a 40-year veteran of the postal service and worked out of the Enfield, Connecticut, post office.
The crash occurred at about 11 a.m., Thursday, on Route 5 just over the Longmeadow border. Enfield Police were pursuing Cersosimo, who failed to stop for officers and sideswiped another vehicle, Leydon said.
