Chico, CA : 81-year-old man dies after a collision in north Chico on Wednesday afternoon, August 3, 2016

An 81-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon of injuries after a collision in the intersection of Keefer Road and Hegenridge Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse southbound on Heganridge Road around 4 p.m. and entered Keefer in front of a 2008 Ford F250 pickup driven by Todd Kinney, 44, of Chico.

The truck hit the Chevrolet on the driver side. The driver’s name has not been released pending notification of relatives.

Kinney and two juvenile passengers, ages 9 and 16, all of Chico, sustained minor injuries.

Two juvenile passengers in the Chevrolet, ages 9 and 11,were also injured, one moderately, the other with minor injuries.

The collision is under investigation, but the CHP do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor.
