Estacada, OR : Beavercreek motorcyclist in critical condition after crash on Oregon 211 on Tuesday July 15, 2014
A Beavercreek motorcyclist was in critical condition Wednesday after a crash on Oregon 211 at South Hayden Road, south of Estacada.
John W. Groener, 59, was rushed by American Medical Response ambulance to OHSU Hospital, where he remains under care.
Four additional victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.
Lt. Gregg Hastings, Oregon State Police spokesman, said Groener was traveling south on Oregon 211 around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, when a northbound 2013 Kia Soul turned left toward South Hayden Road. The motorcycle crashed into the Kia's passenger-side door, ejecting Groener onto the highway.
Groener was wearing a helmet.
The Kia's driver, Tara R. Joyce, 20, of Portland, and three passengers were taken by ambulance to area hospitals, with injuries considered minor to serious.
One passenger, Danny D. Manjeot, 38, of Portland was treated and released, then arrested by state troopers on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failing to appear in court to face a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. Manjeot was booked into the Clackamas County Jail, where he is being held without bail.
Hastings said Joyce is cooperating with investigators and that no citations have been issued in connection with the crash.
State police were assisted at the scene by firefighters and paramedics from the Estacada, Molalla, Colton, Sandy and Clackamas 1 fire districts; Clackamas County sheriff's deputies and Sandy police; and an Oregon Department of Transportation crew.
Traffic was detoured while the highway was blocked and emergency responders were on the scene.
