Clayton County, GA : Man and two children killed and two others seriously injured after a wrong-way crash on I-75 in Atlanta on Sunday morning, June 21, 2015

A man and a 3-year old boy remained in critical condition at area hospitals Monday evening after a horrific wrong-way interstate crash. The crash killed two children and an adult passenger.

"It's not set in. It was really just like a dream," John Osborne told Channel 2 investigative reporter Aaron Diamant outside Atlanta Medical Center in northeast Atlanta.

Osborne’s father, Mike Osborne, is fighting for his life from injuries he suffered in the I-75 crash early Sunday morning that killed John Osborne’s 8-year-old nephew, Kaybrin Osborne.

"He was an awesome little boy,” recalled Osborne. “He was always full of life. He was a Boy Scout, played football. He played baseball, he loved rock music."

Atlanta police say 20-year-old Jorge Solis was drunk when he got on I-75 South in Clayton County going the wrong way. Solis’ pickup slammed head-on into Mike Osborne’s car, killing Kaybrin and his 7-year-old half-sister Halle Young.

Their 3-year-old half-brother is in critical condition at another local hospital. Mike Osborne's friend, 49-year-old Michael Farlow, was also killed.

"It happens,” Osborne said. “I don't know why. I can't understand why, especially in the extreme conditions that it did happen. We'll just see how it all pans out and we'll get through it."

John Osborne told Diamant his father was taking the three children to visit their mother in Florida when the crash happened.

"I am grieved for the family, for their loss,” Solis’ long-time friend, Gary Cage, told Diamant outside the Fulton County jail Monday. “I am grieved for Jorge’s error in judgement."

Cage said he is still coming to terms with that grief.

"I’m wanting to know the circumstances, and I would want the circumstances to be reported clearly," Cage said.

Diamant was in court Monday morning, but never saw Solis, who waived his initial appearance before a judge on a long list of charges, including three counts of vehicular homicide and DUI.

"I could not even imagine being out there yesterday," said Atlanta Police Department spokesperson Kim Jones. "It's hard, I mean, it's hard for you to sit there and know that you have kids and at home and see how easily it could have been prevented."

Meanwhile, John Osborne told Diamant while he's staying strong for his dad … his heart is heavy with grief for his nephew.

"He’d drive you nuts just pestering you, but that was just Kaybrin, you know, he made you love him," Osborne said.

Jorge Solis remains locked up without bond.

Diamant confirmed Solis was already on probation for a March DUI in Clayton County and faces a separate reckless conduct charge in Clayton County.
