Boston, MA : 96-year-old man dies in a one-car accident on Interstate 495 in Berlin on Sunday, August 21, 2016
State police say a 96-year-old Berlin man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash in which his Ford Focus struck a rock wall along a ramp leading to Interstate 495 north in Berlin on Sunday.
Troopers were called to the ramp from Route 62 in Berlin to the northbound lanes of the interstate Sunday about 3:22 p.m., for a report of a single-vehicle crash, according to a press release.
Troopers from the state police Leominster barracks found that a 2007 Ford Focus struck a rock wall along the ramp, according to a press release.
The 96-year-old Berlin man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.
The ramp was closed for about an hour so the crash could be investigated.
Troopers from the Leominster barracks, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the Crime Scene Services Section, and the Worcester State Police Detective Unit are taking part in the investigation.
