Warwick, RI : 76-year-old John Bert dies after a fatal accident in Warwick on Monday afternoon, July 25, 2016

A man dies after a fatal accident in Warwick late Monday afternoon.

Police say 76-year-old John Bert of Warwick was traveling southerly on Warwick Neck Ave struck a series of boulders on the shoulder of the roadway.

Bert, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was attended to by Warwick Fire and EMS personnel. He was unresponsive and transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Officials say Bert was pronounced dead at the hospital immediately after being transported.

Police say alcohol and speed were not factors, but there is a possibility of underlying medical issues being a factor.

At the moment, the Warwick Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.
