Camden, DE : 84-year-old woman dies after a three-car crash west of Camden on Saturday, Nov 14, 2015
An 84-year-old Felton woman died over the weekend after a three-car crash west of Camden that also injured a passenger in another car, the Delaware State Police reported this afternoon.
The accident happened about 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Willow Grove Road (Route 10) and Dundee Road/Moose Lodge Road (Route 15) intersection.
The woman killed was identified as Alice G. Bloom. Police said she was driving a 2009 Honda Civic northbound on Dundee Road and stopped at the stop sign for Willow Grove Road.
She then entered the intersection and was struck on the Honda’s right rear corner by a westbound 2009 Hyundai Sonata.
Police said Bloom’s car continued north into the southbound lane, where it struck nearly head-on a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Cruz that was stopped at the stop sign.
The driver of the Sonata, Thomas J. Bowie, 30, of Camden, brought the car to a controlled stop.
Bloom was taken by ambulance to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover, where she died of her injuries on Sunday morning.
Bowie and his two children, ages 6 years and 9 months, all were properly restrained and were not hurt, police said.
The driver of the Cruz, Donald L. Baugh, 82, of Camden, was not hurt, police said. His 81-year-old wife was taken to Kent General and treated for unknown injuries.
The intersection was closed about an hour as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
