Burton, MI : Power restored to thousands in Burton after crash on Wednesday, November 5, 2014

Power is back on for about 7,000 CMS Energy Corp. customers in suburban Flint who lost electricity when a car crashed into a utility pole. CMS spokesman Brian Wheeler says the Jackson-based utility restored power about 11 a.m. Wednesday to the customers in Burton. Wheeler says the 4 a.m. crash knocked down a higher voltage line. The affected area included schools and businesses. The Flint Journal says classes were cancelled Wednesday at the three schools in the Bentley district. Police say the driver had minor injuries from the crash and is expected to be OK. The car ended up in Eric Boyd's driveway. He says the pole was "completely sheared" and the crash was so loud that he "jumped out of bed."
