Westport, WI : Distracted semi-truck driver causes Highway 19 crash on Monday afternoon, June 27, 2016
A distracted semi-truck driver caused a crash on Highway 19 in the town of Westport Monday afternoon.
According to the Dane County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash just before 1:45 p.m.
Deputies said an SUV being driven by a 35-year-old Madison man was traveling eastbound and stopped to make a left turn into the Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center when he was rear-ended by a semi-truck.
They said the crash pushed the SUV across the opposite lane of traffic and into the ditch. The driver of the SUV had to extricated from the vehicle. He was transported by EMS to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 55-year-old semi-truck driver from Oak Creek sustained minor injuries. He was cited for inattentive driving and no seatbelt.
