Milwaukee, WI : University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point student killed in a two-vehicle crash on Sunday, February 5, 2017

A University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point student killed in a two-vehicle crash in that city was identified by police and school officials Monday as Brendan L. Kennedy, 21, of Grafton.

The rear end collision was reported shortly after 10 p.m., Sunday at the intersection of Main St. and Michigan Ave., according to a news release from the Stevens Point Police Department.

A 25-year-old Stevens Point man suffered minor injuries in the crash, both he and Kennedy were the sole occupants of the vehicles, and both were westbound on Main St. at the time of the crash, according to the release.

No further details were available Monday on the crash, which remained under investigation, according to the release.

Kennedy was a sophomore majoring in urban forestry, according to a statement from the university.

"Our deepest sympathy goes to Brendan’s parents, family and friends," Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Al S. Thompson, Jr. and Dean of Students Troy Seppelt said in the statement.
