Boston,MA : Man dies in fiery crash on I-95 on July, Saturday 15th 2017

A man was killed yesterday in a fiery early morning crash between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in Mansfield, state police said.

The crash, which occurred about 5:25 a.m., involved a Ford F-250 pickup truck that slammed into the back of a disabled 2015 Kenworth tractor-trailer that was parked in the breakdown lane along I-95 northbound with a flat tire, according to police.

State police said the deceased driver has not been identified.

A 56-year-old tractor-trailer driver from Providence, whose name was not released last night, was sitting in the vehicle at the time of the accident and suffered minor injuries. State police say he declined medical treatment.

Investigators believe ­the pickup truck driver had been “driving at a high rate of speed in the breakdown lane” before impact, according to state police. The vehicle burst into flames after hitting the tractor-trailer and the man was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by troopers assigned to the State Police Foxboro Barracks and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn’s office.
