WEST ALTON, MO : Alotn woman hurt in crash on U.S. 67 on Tuesday, 18th February, 2020

An Alton woman was injured Tuesday night in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 67.According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Theresa Hawkins-Abernathy, 56, was driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla north on U.S. 67 at Red School Road around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when she left the roadway. Her vehicle struck an embankment and overturned.
Initial police radio traffic indicated that the vehicle was partially submerged in water, with an individual trapped inside.
Hawkins-Abernathy was taken to SSM Health DePaul Hospital by Christian Ambulance. No details on her condition were available Wednesday morning.
