Cross Plains, WI : 25-year-old Madison man dead after being hit by a sport-utility vehicle on Highway 14 in Dane County on Monday, Sep 28, 2015

A 25-year-old Madison man is dead after being hit by a sport-utility vehicle Monday in the town of Cross Plains.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened on Highway 14 at Cleveland Road at around 9:50 p.m. The initial investigation showed that a 33-year-old Madison woman was driving a GMC Terrain SUV east on Highway 14 when she struck the Madison man, who was in her lane.

Attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

With the crash investigation still underway, names were not immediately released.
