Fairmount, KS : Rural Tonganoxie man killed in a crash that knocked out power to more than 1,000 people on Thursday, April 28, 2016

A rural Tonganoxie man was killed Thursday in a crash that knocked out power to more than 1,000 people, according to information from the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office and Westar Energy.
The crash resulted in the death of David Rorabacher, 71.

The accident was reported at 3:48 p.m. at 155th Street and Fairmount Road.

Terry McKay, 46, Leavenworth, was driving north on 155th Street in a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. He allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, resulting in a collision with a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Rorabacher, according to a report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office.

McKay and his two passengers were transported to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas, for treatment.

One of the vehicles struck a power pole, causing a loss of power to more than 1,000 Westar Energy customers, according to Westar spokeswoman Gina Penzig.
