One person was injured in a crash that closed Interstate 65 northbound for a time Wednesday evening near Dodge City.

The crash occurred about 5:20 p.m., near Exit 299 and involved two vehicles. Witnesses said one vehicle was on fire after the crash and a second was in the median.

One person sustained a minor injury, Trooper Curtis Summerville said.

All lanes were reopened by about two hours later.

7:27 p.m.: Speeds are slowly increasing through the zone. Drivers report the crash scene appears to have been cleared from the roadway.

6:19 p.m.: One lane is now moving through the area.

A major backup has resulted, with southbound traffic sluggish approaching the scene.
