Calhoun County ,AL : Two people injured after School Bus crash along Alabama 21 on May 18th 2015

A Calhoun County school bus and another vehicle were involved in a two-vehicle crash on Alabama 21 near Parker Drive around 4 p.m. Monday, state troopers said.
State troopers said the driver and a passenger in a car were taken to Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries. The driver of the school bus and three children were taken to RMC for evaluation, troopers said.
Shortly after 4 p.m. Monday troopers were directing traffic around the crash as an ambulance arrived.
Fifteen students from Weaver Elementary were on the bus, said Summer Davis, the school’s principal.
Jim Phillips, who identified himself as the father of the girl who was taken to the hospital, said he didn't see the crash but heard it from up the hill. He described it as “the most awful racket I ever heard” and said he immediately worried about his daughters
"That's all I could think when I heard it, was somebody hit my girls," he said.
"People just don't pay attention,” Phillips said. “When someone loses their life, it'll be too late."
Randy Reaves, the director of safety for the school system, said the bus had a broken axle.
Alabama state troopers said they would impound the bus and map it over the next couple of days, to recreate the incident as part of the investigation.
The bus driver, Kelley Karns, was visibly shaken when speaking at the scene. Her hip and wrist were hurting as she spoke, she said. She's driven a bus for 15 years.
"This is my hot spot," she said, adding that drivers often don't stop for her at the intersection. She, too, said there are often Weaver police at the intersection.
She said she had stopped to let two sisters off, and had traffic coming from behind her when the bus was hit from behind.
Karns said she'd never been hit before, despite some close calls at this intersection.
"People are just not paying attention," Karns said. "I'm just shook up, but I'm OK. My poor kids. They were hysterical. Bless their hearts."
