MENTOR, OH : A Mentor police officer died in a hit-and-run crash on Sunday, 24th June 2018

A Mentor police officer died early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash and police are searching for the driver.The Mentor Police Department has not released the identity of the officer killed in the crash that happened about 1 a.m. as the officer helped a fellow officer during a traffic stop in the eastbound lane of State Route 2 near State Route 306.

Paramedics took the officer to TriPoint Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
