Napa,CA : A senior at Analy High School and an Analy graduate were seriously hurt on April, sunday 23th 2017
A senior at Analy High School and an Analy graduate were seriously hurt Sunday in a four-vehicle crash in Napa County that also injured four others.
Zane Hess, 18, and Carlos Torres, 20, suffered major head injuries in the high-speed crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. Both remained Monday night in Santa Rosa and Napa hospitals.
The four-vehicle crash happened at 2:45 p.m. on Highway 128, west of Lake Berryessa.
Torres, of Healdsburg, was driving a 1988 Porsche Targa, west near Chiles Pope Valley Road when he lost control and veered into the opposite lane, the CHP said.
The Porsche collided with a 2017 Ford Explorer. Two motorcycle riders were caught up in the wreckage and crashed but weren’t injured, the CHP said.
The driver of the Explorer, Manbirpaul Dhillon, 38, of Yuba City, was traveling with his family, including two children, ages 6 and 3. A passenger, Mandish Dhillon, 33, of Yuba City, suffered major injuries and was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa. The driver and children had minor injuries and also were taken to the Napa hospital. All were released from the hospital by Monday night. The collision destroyed the Porsche, which caught fire, the CHP said. How fast Torres was driving wasn’t known, but officers reported it was more than the 55 mph limit and speed caused him to lose control. Dhillon was going about 40 mph, saw the Porsche in his path and slammed on the brakes, according to the CHP. The SUV hit the passenger side of the Porsche.
Torres was flown by CHP helicopter to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa and Hess was flown by Reach medical helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
Hess was reported in serious condition Monday, said a hospital spokeswoman. Torres was listed in critical condition. He graduated from Analy in 2015.
Nichole Hess Monday said her son and his close friend apparently were driving with a second vehicle of friends when the crash occurred. Her son is due to graduate this spring from Analy. Family and friends were gathered at the hospital, she said.
“The entire Analy High School community is keeping all involved in this accident in our thoughts and prayers,” Analy High School Principal Raul Guerrero said Monday in a statement. “I spoke with Zane Hess’s family today and asked that they please keep us updated on how we can support them during his recovery period.”
