Layton, UT : Motorcyclist killed in Layton accident on Thursday, April 7, 2016

A Davis County man succumbed to his injuries after being involved in an accident at the intersection of Main Street and Antelope Drive April 7.

Police said 45-year-old Timothy C. Wangsgaard, Kaysville, was traveling on a motorcycle westbound on Antelope Drive behind two vehicles when the light turned yellow at the intersection of Main Street and Antelope Drive. Witnesses said eastbound vehicles began to slow for the light and Wangsgaard switched lanes to pass the vehicles. A vehicle waiting to turn left from Antelope Drive onto southbound Main Street proceeded to turn left after seeing the eastbound vehicles slowing down. The vehicle and the motorcyclist collided in the intersection, according to police.

Wangsgaard sustained serious injuries to his lower leg, losing a significant amount of blood. Two Layton Police Officers who were nearby responded to the scene immediately. They applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg to control the bleeding due to the significant nature of the injury. He was then transferred to a local hospital where he later died.

The accident is under investigation.
