MILAN, IL : Two dead after five vehicle crash in Milan on February, Tuesday 13th 2018

Two people were pronounced dead on the scene after a five vehicle crash in the 13500 block of Route 67 Tuesday night.

According to a press release from the Rock Island County Sherriff’s department at deadline, a head-on crash occurred at 6:48 p.m. The accident happened just one mile south of Castle Junction, and Route 67 was closed for several hours.

In addition to the deaths, four other people with serious injuries were transported to the hospital, while two others were checked on scene and declined further treatment. The release did not state which hospital the victims were transported to.

A preliminary investigation showed that an northbound vehicle entered the southbound lane and struck a southbound vehicle head on, according to the release. Three other vehicles became involved in the crash at or near the initial time of the impact.
