Liberty County, GA : Six dead in wrong-way wreck on I-95 on Sunday, 23rd February, 2020

According to Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol, six people are dead following a head on collision on Interstate 95 in Liberty County early Sunday morning.

According to Liberty County Sheriffs Deputy Lt. Jason Colvin, around 2 a.m., the Liberty County dispatch center issued a look out advisory of a white Lexus traveling southbound in the northbound lane. As deputies were headed to the interstate to intercept the motorist, police got word of a wreck on I-95 at exit 76 in Midway.

When deputies arrived, they found two vehicles which had collided head on.

According to GSP Trooper Markus White, six people were killed in the accident. The sole occupant of the Lexus has been identified as an elderly gentleman who had Florida license plates on his vehicle and was headed in the wrong direction on the interstate when he collided with the SUV carrying a man and woman and 3 children. The SUV displayed Virginia tags.

The victims of both vehicles were extricated from the vehicles by the Midway Fire Department.

The identities of the people killed have not been released yet.
