BELL COUNTY, TX : Texas DPS on scene of double fatal crash along FM 439 in Bell County on Monday, 25th September 2023

Macayla Meshell Bartek, 30, of Belton, and Lance Scott Jerome Walker, 46, also of Belton, were killed in an early-morning collision in Bell County, The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed.

The collision happened at about 4:15 a.m. on Sept. 25 on FM 439 about half a mile east of FM 93.

Bartek was driving a 1992 Chevrolet truck westbound on FM 439. At that same time, Walker was driving a 2020 Kia Optima eastbound. Both drivers collided head-on, DPS said.

“Investigators are still reconstructing the evidence on scene to determine which of the vehicles crossed over into the opposite lanes,” the state agency wrote in a news release.
