Las Vegas, NV : Woman struck, killed jumping from stolen truck in northeast valley on Friday morning, April 8, 2016

A woman was killed Friday morning after jumping from a stolen truck being followed by police in the northeast valley, according to Metro Police.

Police responded about 7:05 a.m. to report of a stolen 2007 Ford F-450. Officers approached the vehicle at a red signal on westbound Cheyenne Avenue and North Nellis Boulevard, but when the light turned green, the driver sped through the intersection and was driving erratically, police said.

When the driver turned right onto northbound Lamont Street, two passengers, a man and a woman, jumped out the truck, police said. The man rolled away from the truck, but the woman fell underneath and was killed.

The 30-year-old woman was from Costa Mesa, California. Her identity will be provided by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The driver, 31-year-old Joshua Cyran of Las Vegas, continued north on Lamont Street before jumping out and fleeing on foot. The truck traveled over a curb before crashing into a wall of an apartment complex. It also hit an empty parked car.

Cyran was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He faces charges of grand larceny auto, DUI death and hit and run death.

The male passenger, who was identified as 58-year-old Lawrence Younger, was taken into custody on charges unrelated to this incident. It is unclear what those charges are at this time.

This marks the 33rd related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2016. The incident remains under investigation.
