A 56-year-old North Carolina man died and a Navarre woman was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Sunday evening on Pensacola Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

Donald G. Holmes, 56, of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, was traveling west on Gulf Boulevard riding a 1981 Honda motorcycle with 50-year-old passenger Darlene Michelle Holmes of Navarre.

At approximately 5:50 p.m., a vehicle that was traveling ahead of the motorcycle slowed down to turn left into a beach access parking lot. For an unknown reason, Holmes ran off the roadway onto the right shoulder, according to the FHP news release.
