DURHAM, NC : Male hurt in car vs. moped crash in Durham on Thursday, 13th September 2018
A man was significantly injured Thursday evening after the moped he was riding on was struck by a vehicle, according to police.
At 6:25 p.m. Thursday, Durham police and fire departments responded to the report of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Street and North Drive, according to a statement released by the Durham Police Department.
A 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Destiny Duncan of Rochester, was traveling south on North Drive when it struck a moped operated by Jake Yennaco of Windham, which was traveling west on Main Street, according to police. A male passenger on the moped was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital by McGregor EMS. He had significant, but not life-threatening injuries, according to police. Police did not identify the male.
Alcohol or drug impairment does not appear to be a factor, police said, but continue to investigate.
