Huntsville, AL : At least one person was injured when a car crashed into the back of a 18-wheeler at the intersection of University Drive and Putman Drive Tuesday night on July 8, 2014
A bad wreck at the intersection of University Drive and Putman Drive sent at least one person to the hospital Tuesday night.
Huntsville police, firefighters and HEMSI responded to the wreck close to 8:30 p.m. after getting reports a white hatchback ran into the rear of a 18-wheeler. The truck's rear corner was wedged deep into the front of the smaller car.
A witness said three people were inside the car and were all able to get out themselves. He said the driver was taken away in an ambulance. He said there was blood present but it was unclear how badly he was hurt.
The witness said given the truck's placement through the windshield, it looked like the driver "cheated death."
The truck driver was not injured.
Scanner traffic confirmed at least one person was transported. Police could not say exactly how many were injured or what they believe happened.
Police kept traffic moving smoothly along University Drive. Eastbound traffic was down to one lane, but it moved steadily.
