Rutland, WI : 72-year-old woman killed in a three-vehicle crash on US Highway 14 in Dane County on Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016
A 72-year-old woman, of Oregon, was killed after her car crossed the center line of U.S. Highway 14 and struck a vehicle head-on in Dane County Wednesday.
Dane County Sheriff's deputies responded to a three-vehicle crash on US Highway 14, less than a half of a mile south of County Highway A in the Town of Rutland just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The woman was traveling traveling northbound on Highway 14 in a Subaru Impreza when she crossed the center line and hit a southbound Dodge Durango head-on. A Subaru Outback was also traveling northbound on Highway 14 and could not brake in time to avoid the crash and hit the Impreza.
The woman driving the Subaru Impreza was pronounced dead at the scene. Her age and name has not been released yet.
The driver of the Dodge Durango was identified as 93-year-old Benjamin Blum, of Madison, and was transported by UW Med Flight to University of Wisconsin Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. His three passengers were all transported to hospitals with minor injuries.
The driver of the Subaru Outback, Jared A. Bland, 26, of Crystal Lake, Ill., was not injured.
Sheriff's office crash reconstructionists are working at the scene. U.S. Highway 14 is expected to re-open sometime after 11:00 am.
