Newport News, VA : Newport News sheriff injured in crash on Friday, October, 13th 2017

Newport News Sheriff Gabe Morgan was injured in a crash Friday morning, police said.

The crash happened about 11 a.m. at Warwick Boulevard and Glendale Road, according to Newport News Police Department spokesman Lou Thurston.Police think a Ford F-150 pick-up truck ran into the rear of Morgan’s Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe is a Newport News Sheriff’s Office vehicle, Thurston said.

Morgan was taken to the hospital by medics with injures that are not believed to be life-threatening, he said.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a Virginia Beach man, was issued a summons for following to close, Thurston said.
