New Castle,PA : Five people went to area hospitals after a school bus struck a car on April, friday 21th 2017
Five people went to area hospitals after a school bus struck a car about 1:30 p.m. Friday in North Beaver Township.
According to state police, Diana L. Culley of West State Street, Edinburg, was westbound on Mohawk School Road and had slowed to attempt a left turn onto Terrace Drive when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a Mohawk Area School District bus operated by Teri R. Bailey of Hillsville Road, Edinburg.
Police said Culley and two passengers in her car — Edwin D. Culley of West State Street and Olive Meese of HIllsville Road — each suffered "moderate injuries" and were transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Bailey and a female minor in the bus were taken to UPMC Jameson with minor injuries. The female minor was not identified by state police, but officials listed her earlier in the day as Bailey's daughter.
Culley's car was severely damaged, while the bus appeared to have some front-end damage.
The road was closed to traffic for about an hour after the collision. North Beaver firefighters were on the scene. Emergency responders from Mahoning Township and Bessemer Borough also assisted.
State police are continuing to investigate the accident.
