A 26-year-old Meridian man died Sunday following a one-car accident on Highway 19 South in Lauderdale County.

Colton L. McConnell died at the scene of the accident, which occurred around 6:35 a.m., according to Sgt. Andy West of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

McConnell was alone in a 1997 Mitsubishi when the vehicle left the road and hit a stump, causing it to roll over, West said.

Several emergency vehicles responded.

The accident is under investigaton, West said.
