Melbourne, FL : Car crashes into power pole outside Melbourne gas station on US-192 at Palm Blvd. on Tuesday morning, March 24, 2015

A car crashed into a power pole Tuesday morning along U.S. Highway 192 in Brevard County, shutting down the busy road near Melbourne International Airport.

The crash happened sometime before 9 a.m. outside a Sunoco gas station on U.S. 192 near Palm Boulevard, next to the Crane Creek Reserve Golf Course.

Melbourne police said it was rerouting traffic off U.S. 192 from Dairy Road to Airport Boulevard while Florida Power & Light worked to replace the pole.

Car crash will cause re-routing of traffic along SR192 btw Dairy Rd/Airport Blvd. as FPL works to replace damaged power pole. Expect delays.

The cause of the crash, along with the condition of the driver and any other occupants inside the car, was not immediately known.
