York, PA : 22-year-old Heidelberg Twp. man dies in crash in Jackson Twp. early Saturday, August 13, 2016

A Heidelberg Twp. man died early Saturday in a motor vehicle crash in Jackson Twp., according to a news release from the York County coroner.

Twenty-two-year old John Randolph Smith's vehicle flipped over and came to rest in a field after he lost control and hit a poll, according to the coroner's release.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 a.m. in the area of 857 Lake Road, the release states.

Smith was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. A passenger was taken to York Hospital for treatment, according to the coroner.

The cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force trauma and the manner of death was listed as accidental; no autopsy will be performed.
