A 33-year-old Houma man was killed in a motorcycle crash on La. 55 near Bush Canal Monday night, authorities said.
According to the Louisiana State Police, at 8 p.m. Alex Abbott was traveling south in a 2017 Kawasaki ZX10R motorcycle on La. 55 at a high rate of speed. When he entered a right curve, Abbot lost control of the motorcycle, ran off the road to the left and struck a piece of highway equipment that was parked beyond the northbound travel lane.
Abbot, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries, State Police said in a news release. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Impairment is unknown at this time, and a toxicology report is pending.
