Junction City, OR : 39-year-old Corvallis woman died in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 99W just south of Junction City on Friday morning, November 21, 2014
A Corvallis woman died Friday when an oncoming pickup truck crossed the center median on Highway 99 and hit her car, Oregon State Police said.
Kimberly Anne Barclay, 39, of Corvallis died at the scene of the crash south of Junction City.
The crash happened just before 7 a.m., state police said.
According to the preliminary investigation, Clinton Stefanek, 31, of Eugene was northbound on Hwy 99 in a 2002 Toyota Tacoma when he crossed the center median and hit Barclay's southbound 2014 Nissan Juke.
Two other pickup trucks collided with the vehicles in the aftermath of the initial collision, state police said.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation pending the results of the collision reconstruction.
"Trying to determine the speed of the vehicles, the relative location of the vehicles, in other words which lane they were in, which directions they were traveling in and what ultimately started this chain of events," said Lt. Lang Hinkle with Oregon State Police.
One of the pickups came to rest 50 to 100 yards off the road in the some bushes on the far side of the railroad tracks. The other two were on the side of the highway.
The Nissan sustained heavy front end damage.
All lanes of Hwy 99 remained closed until 10:45 a.m.
Nancy Hornaday was getting ready to fish at Junction City Pond when she heard the crash.
"Just before daylight, I heard metal on metal, but it wasn't loud," she said. "I noticed then some of the cars down the road here that had stopped."
