JENNINGS COUNTY, IN : Edinburgh man arrested after crashing his getaway vehicle on Sunday, 15th December, 2019

An Edinburgh man was arrested Sunday after Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to a recycling center alarm.

Sgt. Allen Ritchie was sent to the ISA Recycling Center in Spencer Township in the early morning hours of Sunday, said Chief Deputy Dave Turner.

While he was traveling there, Jennings County Central Dispatch received a report of a single-vehicle crash near the same location. After Ritchie’s arrival, his investigation revealed that the suspect, Marvin McCall, 57, Edinburgh had broken into the business and loaded his truck with several catalytic converters before leaving the scene, Turner said.

The investigation showed that the suspect left the scene at a high rate of speed and wrecked his vehicle where it overturned several times and eventually came to rest in the middle of the roadway on County Road 900W, about 200 yards from ISA Recycling, Turner said. After wrecking the vehicle, the suspect returned to the business where he then stole a Bobcat Skid loader and drove it to the scene of the accident where he unsuccessfully attempted to turn the vehicle back on its wheels, Turner said.
