Milbank,SD : One dead, four injured in crash north of Milbank on August, Tuesday 22nd 2017
One teen died and four others were injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon north of Milbank.
The names of the five people are not being released pending notification of family members.
A 2002 Chevy Trailblazer was northbound when the male driver lost control on the gravel road. The vehicle went into the west ditch and rolled several times.
A 15-year-old female passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver and two female passengers, all 14 years old, along with a 17-year-old female passenger, sustained minor injuries. Two female passengers, one 14 and the other 17, were wearing seatbelts; the male driver and other female were not.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Milbank Police Department, Milbank Fire Department and Grants-Roberts Ambulance.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
