A Leesville woman died in a single-vehicle crash late Wednesday night.
State Police reported that troopers responded to the crash call around 11:50 p.m. on LA Hwy. 184 at LA Hwy. 8 east of Leesville.
The crash involved a 2015 Volvo XC60, driven by Nena Marie McCarthy, 46. The Volvo was northbound on LA Hwy. 184 when McCarthy failed to stop at the stop sign, traveled completely across LA Hwy. 8, and exited the north side of the roadway.
After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a traffic sign, traveled down an embankment, and collided with a concrete culvert, troopers said.
McCarthy was wearing her seat belt, but was pronounced dead at the scene. Troop E Troopers have investigated 12 fatal crashes in 2016 that resulted in 14 fatalities.
