Roswell, NM: Fatal wreck closes stretch of U.S. 285 on Friday, July 17th 2015

Motorists are being encouraged to avoid a fatal crash scene in Chaves County.Both northbound lanes of U.S. 285 between State Route 161 to State Route 162 are closed because of a Friday evening crash involving a semitractor-trailer. The accident took place north of Roswell.Officials said it's a single-vehicle incident, in which the semitractor-trailer wrecked and erupted in flames.Officials have confirmed one death.Motorists should find an alternate route.
